Data enrichment in progress: Some agents may be missing or state licensing info may not fully reflect all states where an agent is practicing. We're adding more states weekly.

About iAgentProof

Free insurance agent verification powered by public government data.

Our Mission

Buying insurance is one of the most important financial decisions you make — yet most consumers have no easy way to verify whether their agent is properly licensed, experienced, or has any disciplinary history. That information exists in public records, but it's scattered across 50 different state websites with different formats and search interfaces.

iAgentProof brings it all together. We collect public licensing data from state Departments of Insurance, normalize it into a consistent format, and organize it by state and city. No paywalls, no sign-ups — just facts.

Public Record Data

How It Works

Public Records Only

Every profile comes from official state Department of Insurance records. We submit public records requests and download from government open data portals. No data is scraped from private sources or fabricated.

Publish Only What DOIs Publish

Every field on the site (license status, dates, lines of authority, carrier appointments) is drawn directly from state DOI records. We do not compute rankings, ratings, or trust scores — those would require judgments we cannot honestly make from public data.

Peer Context

Agents are tiered (Top, Verified, New) relative to peers in their same city and specialty. This gives you meaningful context rather than absolute numbers.

What We Don't Do

  • We don't accept payment for rankings. Agents cannot pay to improve their score or tier placement.
  • We don't fabricate data. If a state doesn't publish a particular field (like carrier appointments), we leave it blank rather than guess.
  • We don't attribute carrier complaints to individual agents. NAIC complaint data is carrier-level only. We show it as carrier context, never as an agent metric.
  • We don't provide insurance advice. We present facts from public records to help you make informed decisions.

Data Sources

Our data comes directly from state insurance regulators via the NAIC State Based Systems (SBS) public lookup and direct state DOI data portals:

  • NAIC SBS — 31 states/territories (AK, AL, AR, AZ, CT, DC, DE, GU, HI, IA, ID, KS, MA, MD, MO, MT, NC, NE, NH, NJ, NM, OK, OR, PR, RI, SC, SD, TN, VI, WI, WV)
  • Ohio — Ohio Department of Insurance (bulk license data)
  • Texas — Texas Department of Insurance (data.texas.gov open data)
  • Nevada — Nevada Division of Insurance (license reports)
  • North Dakota — North Dakota Insurance Department (active producer list)
  • Illinois — Illinois Department of Insurance (NAIC SBS data)
  • Vermont — Vermont Department of Financial Regulation (producer export)

Total: 37 states and territories covered. We are actively adding more states as data becomes available through public records requests and open data portals.
